The remake included updated graphics and took over the motion control-based camera mechanics from Fatal Frame IV, while also refining those mechanics. The game was remade for the Wii in 2012, and released in Japan and Europe under the subtitle Deep Crimson Butterfly. The Director's Cut added a new ending, more costumes to unlock, and a higher difficulty.

#FATAL FRAME 2 FAQ SERIES#
If you really like Fatal Frame, I'd say it's hard to go wrong with any of the games, frankly, and would recommend it just because it's a different take on a classic game.Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly is the second entry of the Fatal Frame Survival Horror series created by Tecmo. I bought the Italian release because I could get it for a better price than the English box version, but played it in English perfectly fine on a modded Wii. As far as I know, every version has English text as an option and defaults to the English voice acting (which may be the only VO option, can't remember). With regard to tracking down a copy, one important thing to note in case you don't know is that there were several versions released to account for the various European languages. One of the things I find endlessly fun about the 2 remake is that it was localized in English, but the voice actors weren't North American, since the game wasn't slotted to be released there. I say that because if you don't like the control scheme of 4, then you probably won't want to bother with the 2 remake, but at least you'll get to experience a bit of a different story, etc.

I would say that if you're interested in playing the Fatal Frame 2 remake, you might want to try Zero 4 first, since the 2 remake was done in the mold of that game (though there are some slight mechanical differences).
